CEZA SUPPORTS AND PARTAKES IN TUGUEGARAO’S PAVVURULUN AFI FESTIVAL

The Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA), through its Administrator and Chief Executive Officer – Sec. Katrina Ponce Enrile, and Deputy Administrator for Support Services – Ms. Perla Tumaliuan, supported and joined the celebration of Tuguegarao’s Pavvurulun Afi Festival through the Civil Society Organization (CSO) Night on August 11, 2023 in Tuguegarao City.
The CSO Night became a venue for the LGU to recognize the active civil society organizations and their roles in nation-building. In an interview, DA Tumaliuan conveyed her admiration to Tuguegarao’s Local Chief Executive – Mayor Maila Rosario Ting-Cue, who has been an advocate of citizen participation in local governance. DA Tumaliuan noted that, while the Local Government Code, or R.A. 7160, prescribes LGUs to promote the establishment and operation of civil society organizations and to make them active partners in the pursuit of local autonomy and in the different stages of various programs and projects, from planning to implementation, she could attest how Mayor Ting-Cue has gone above and beyond by making sure that the citizens have open opportunities to articulate their needs and take part in the decision-making process.
Moreover, in an inspirational message that she delivered during the event, Sec. Enrile conveyed that this celebration is not just about the successes of the past, but also about embracing the opportunities and endless possibilities ahead. She also extended her appreciation and acknowledgment to the collaborative efforts of the LGU and the civil society that has exemplified the true spirit of community and solidarity. She specifically acknowledged the invaluable contribution of the different local civil society organizations in the lives of countless individuals and in elevating Tuguegarao City.
She also commended the exemplary leadership of Mayor Ting-Cue whose vision and initiatives, according to Sec. Enrile, have played a pivotal role in ensuring the active participation of the civil society organizations in government processes. She added that the Mayor’s commitment to inclusivity and collaboration has strengthened the bond between the government and its partners and made LGU Tuguegarao a shining example of what could be achieved when everyone comes together.
Sec. Enrile encouraged everyone to revel in the joy that Pavvurulun Afi Festival and its collaborative spirit promote. Taking inspiration from the vibrant culture and rich tradition of Tuguegarao City, she also reminded how diversity could be a strength that provides tapestry of perspectives, talents and backgrounds, and encouraged everyone to remain united in the pursuit of progress, prosperity and happiness for the community.
Sec. Enrile also took this opportunity to invite Tuguegaraoeños to join hands with CEZA for investment and development. In line with her message promoting collaboration, she revealed her vision to cultivate an environment where local entrepreneurs could thrive alongside international players in the Cagayan Special Economic Zone and Freeport (CSEZFP). In essence, she recognized that collaboration can unite diversity and help shape the future of Cagayan, and invited everyone to seize this opportunity to overcome challenges, open new doors and create a legacy of prosperity for generations to come.
On top of the aforementioned CEZA officials, the event was also attended by the City’s officials, members of the 9th City Council, Members and Officers of the Board of Investors, officials from the Philippine National Police and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), other guests, and representatives of 34 civil society organizations, including non-government organizations, people’s organizations, civic organizations, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, social movements, professions groups and business groups.
As such, the event became an opportunity for CEZA to establish goodwill and promote camaraderie among fellow government officials and public servants, as well as to promote partnership and investment opportunities at the CSEZFP to both the public and private sectors alike. #SaCEZAKabahagiKa #InvestWithCEZA #AlagangKatrina #AlagangPerla
