Secretary Raul L. Lambino, administrator and chief executive officer of the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA)(, today ordered the suspension of all chartered flights from Macau and other parts of China to Lallo, Cagayan where it is operating the Cagayan North International Airport (CNIA).

Lambino said the suspension of all Macau/China-Lallo flights is meant to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus (2019 Nobel coronavirus) which is believed to have originated in Wuhan City, Hubei province in China.

The Philippine registered budget airline Royal Air Charter Service Inc. has been operating the Macau-Lallo route since August last year when the CNIA began its international chartered flights, transporting mostly Chinese tourists bound for various resorts destinations in Santa Ana, Cagayan.

“We have already informed the charterer of Royal Air to suspend its operations until further notice. We cannot simply put to risk the lives of our people in the wake of a global concern against the spread of this deadly disease,” said Lambino, also the Presidential Adviser for Northern Luzon.
