PLDT Inc. has recently expressed its interest to help CEZA bring the latest telecommunications technology in Sta. Ana, Cagayan Special Economic Zone and Freeport. As such, a partnership agreement between the two parties was sealed on September 25, 2018 at the CEZA Mandaluyong Office for the installation of underground fiber optic cable facilities that will equip Sta. Ana a high bandwidth internet connection and other transport services like software-defined networking (SDWAN), multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) and other premium services. This will not only help CEZA and its locators meet their high internet bandwidth requirements in and out of the country, but will also add value and increase the competitiveness of the Cagayan Freeport as an investment option in the global market.

Sec. Raul Lambino, Administrator and CEO of the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA), is positive that this joint venture will bring a reliable and affordable internet connection to the area, especially with CEZA’s goal to embark on fintech and blockchain industries, among others. He also stressed out the value of private and public partnership, stating that “the government alone cannot do it and private partnership is needed.” He also imparted that this partnership puts CEZA in a better position in the global map of the business world.

Mr. Albert Mitchell Locsin, First VP and Head of PLDT SME Nation, expressed their “commitment to continuously bring ICT services to the Freeport to help promote customers and partners to the rest of the country and the world.”
