SANTA ANA, Cagayan: Presidential Adviser for Northern Luzon Raul Lambino is being eyed to join the senatorial slate of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio’s Hugpong ng Pagbababago (HNP) with the support of a major youth group in the country.

President Rodrigo Duterte made a personal pitch for the potential candidacy of Lambino, also the current administrator and chief executive officer of Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA).

CEZA, which operates the special economic zone and freeport based in this northern town of town of Cagayan province, is an emerging financial technology hub in Northern Luzon.

Assistant Secretary Ronald Gian Carlo Cadema, of the National Youth Commission, said the President had asked Lambino during a recent gathering of political leaders in Davao City organized by HNP if he was ready for a Senate run.

Cadema said the presidential adviser could be the voice not only of the youth of the country but of the other sectors because Lambino believes in providing equal opportunities for all Filipinos.

A native of Pangasinan and Ilocos Region, Lambino has been an advocate of federalism and believes it to be a force to unleash the nation’s economic potential.

A major project that Lambino pursued as CEZA chief is the creation of a “Crypto Valley of Asia,” a venture he envisions as a hub for financial technology development and cryptocurrency mining in Asia.
