The Philippines’ investment delegation to China has won “Best Promotion on Investment Cooperation” during the 16th China-Asian Expo (CAEXPO) in Nanning, China last September 23, 2019, after showcasing the country’s potential in investment, as a destination of choice for trade, and tourism to Chinese and ASEAN markets.

Headed by Secretary Raul L. Lambino, administrator of the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA), the delegation is composed of the Philippine Investment Promotions -Technical Working Group which is an aggrupation of 19 Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs) across the Philippine regions.

“If we can continue to work under warming ties as a community of “shared destiny,” I cannot foresee any dispute ever loosening the fiber of the China-ASEAN community. What I see in the future is a community working in harmony towards the goals of inclusiveness and common progress,” Sec. Lambino said in his speech.

During the Philippine Promotion Conference, the delegation highlighted the investment and trade opportunities in the country, in which, the conference, with its subsequent business meeting generated about 50 business commitments.

“These commitments are anticipated to provide investment generation and job creation to the country,” Sec. Lambino said adding that CEZA was one among the 19 IPAs participated at the promotion conference.

Other participating IPAs were Boards of Investments, Aurora Pacific Economic Zone and Freeport Authority, Clark Development Authority and Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority.

CAEXPO, a regional summit that promotes bilateral trade, is one of the biggest trade events in China with a 124,000-square meter exhibition space and the only international trade fair in the region dedicated to promoting the building of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area (CAFTA) and celebrating regional trade cooperation.

Moreover, CAEXPO has grown into an event of special international influence and plays an important role in promoting China-ASEAN friendly cooperation and building the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.

The annual event is expected to promote ties among the enterprises, industrial sectors and chambers of commerce, as well as trade associations of both sides to new heights.
