In Action

On June 19, 2024, the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA) signed an agreement with Mercado Builders Development Corporation (MBDC) to collaborate on the sustainable development and promotion of priority projects within the Cagayan Special Economic Zone and Freeport (CSEZFP)

Sec. Katrina Ponce Enrile, Administrator and Chief Executive Officer of the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA), emphasizes the importance of synergy in creating impactful and inclusive development. Guided by this principle, her recent efforts have focused on extensive stakeholder consultation and engagement.

“As we carry out CEZA’s mandate, we take seriously the idea that no one should be left behind. This means implementing interventions that are not only broad but also tailored to specific sectors and even individuals. More importantly, we collaborate with other government agencies, the private sector, NGOs, and potential foreign partners to amplify our impact,” she stated.

“No matter how well-intentioned our plans for the Cagayan Freeport and its neighboring towns are, we recognize the strategic value of aligning our goals with others. Stakeholder consultation and engagement make this possible,” Sec. Enrile added.

The following are the highlights of the synergy efforts undertaken by CEZA, through Sec. Enrile, in the past three months:

On June 25, 2024, CEZA signed an agreement with Freeport Central Business Solutions Inc. (Freeport Central) to establish and operate virtual office services. These services will streamline business operations within the Cagayan Special Economic Zone and Freeport (CSEZFP), enabling companies to operate globally with greater efficiency and flexibility while taking full advantage of CEZA’s export-related incentives.

On July 18, 2024, CEZA Administrator and Chief Executive Officer, Secretary Katrina Ponce Enrile, convened a strategic meeting with key stakeholders to discuss ongoing and upcoming projects. Attendees included Col. Francis Neri and other Philippine Air Force officers, CENRO Joselito Razon of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and Mr. Mark Soriano of TJMT.

On July 19, 2024, Sec. Enrile met with Mr. Allan James Ibarra of the Bureau of Immigration-Aparri, along with private sector representatives, to discuss facilitating ease of doing business for foreign expatriates and improving monitoring and supervision efforts

On July 19, 2024, Sec. Enrile held a coordination meeting with Commander Vic Librilla of the Philippine Coast Guard to discuss the expansion and development plans for Port Irene.
