The Port Irene District in Barangay Casambalangan is proposed to serve as the “gateway” to Santa Ana. Heavy industries will be concentrated near the port. Further, light and medium industries will also be mixed together including the manufacturing, food processing, and logistic enterprises. Residential communities maybe included to accommodate factory workers, provided they are limited and under the buffer zone separating the industries from the residences.
Port Irene is envisioned to be a major transshipment hub. The Phase 1 Dredging works of the 70,000 square meters is on- going and additional 67,907 square meters under Phase 2 is up for bidding this quarter of 2022. Once completed, the navigational channel and turning basin will have a negative 14 meters mean low water level and can accommodate large vessels like Panamax vessels.
The redevelopment of the existing facilities at Port Irene consists of the construction of additional lay-down area with coastal protection, truck wash lane, truck scale, truck scale building, perimeter fence and hybrid solar lighting system within the Port Irene, an envisioned seaport that include three core- zones- a major transshipment facility, a major fishing port, and a shipbuilding/ repair facility.
Port Irene District will also include establishment of various industries such as the Marine and Aqua Products Processing/Cannery; Science Park and Research Facilities; Light Industries; and CEZA Agro-Technology Park Development.
