Under the baton of a dynamic new leadership, CEZA has set new growth targets and development priorities for the Cagayan Special Economic Zone and Freeport (CSEZFP), targeting to be a catalyst in the development of Northern Philippines as a full-serviced industrial, agro-industrial, commercial and tourism enclave. The new master development plan of CEZA is consistent with the regional and national development plans, including the Ten-Point Agenda set by President Rodrigo R. Duterte.
CEZA has mapped out key development thrusts in multiple areas over the next four and half years: (1) Transshipment Hub development, including the development of Cagayan North International Airport, Port Irene, San Vicente Wharf and Marina, Cagayan North Railway System, and Greater Cagayan Expressway System; (2) Integrated Tourism and Leisure development including Online/Interactive Gaming, Golf Courses and Land-based Casino and Integrated Resorts; (3) Development of Power Plants, Industrial Parks, Cyberparks (BPO) and Agri-technology; and (4) Township and Smart City development. The area will also be developed into the first economic zone in Asia to regulate, license and propagate offshore financial technology solutions enterprises and offshore virtual currency exchanges.
With the strong demand from foreign investors looking for larger tracts of land, CEZA proposes the creation of the Greater Cagayan Special Economic Zone and Freeport, which involves land expansion and development to include potential key industrial growth centers and support facilities in 22 municipalities in Cagayan’s second and third districts.
