CEZA Pledges to Be the Catalyst for Indo-Pacific Growth 2024

The Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA), pledged its commitment to support President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s initiatives during the 6th Indo-Pacific Business Forum (IPBF) held on May 21, 2024, at Shangri-La The Fort, Taguig City.

“We are proud to stand in solidarity with the President’s efforts to promote collaboration and innovation in the Indo- Pacific region,” said Sec. Katrina Ponce Enrile, Administrator and Chief Executive Officer of CEZA.

As the Keynote Speaker during the forum, Pres. Marcos affirmed that his administration remains at the forefront of promoting the Philippines as a prime investment destination in the Indo- Pacific region through various strategic partnerships, such as Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and Generalized System of Preference (GSP), ensuring that investors benefit from preferential market access.

“Through our ties with different countries, our nation enjoys access to various markets, including the ASEAN market, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), and the Philippines- Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (PJEPA), among others. These agreements underscore our commitment to fostering economic growth and international cooperation. With RCEP, investors can access other markets from RCEP countries by manufacturing and exporting their products from the Philippines,” President Marcos noted.

As one of the key economic investment promotion agencies in the Philippines, CEZA recognizes the importance of fostering these partnerships and implementing innovative strategies to enhance international cooperation and continuing the country’s economic performance.

“We at CEZA are dedicated to playing a proactive role in supporting initiatives to develop a future-proof special economic zone and freeport at the crossroads of the Asia- Pacific Region, ensuring economic prosperity and sustainable development in our country,” Secretary Enrile added.

CEZA has been actively involved in promoting economic activities, attracting investments to the Cagayan Special Economic Zone and Freeport, creating job opportunities, driving economic growth, and contributing to the overall economic development of the Philippines. By aligning its efforts with the National Government’s initiatives, CEZA aims to further strengthen ties with its regional and national partners and drive sustainable growth opportunities for the country. Specifically, CEZA intends to continue exploring strategic partnerships, fostering innovation, and implementing strong policy frameworks that support the President’s transformative reforms to ensure a conducive business environment. Additionally, CEZA aims to cultivate a skilled and competitive workforce that can drive industrial transformation and contribute to the advancement of key economic sectors in the Philippines.
