CAGAYAN FREEPORT—Works on several infrastructure projects within this Freeport continued without letup despite quarantine protocols on the rest of Luzon that started in mid-March of 2020.Infrastructure developments in the freeport will attract potential locators and investors for investment and expansion and create job opportunities, at the same time, provides the foundation for increased economic activities in Northern Luzon which would significantly improve the Freeport’s contribution to the national economy.

Built in Port Irene, in Casambalangan Village, the CEZA Warehouse Units and Offices have expanded its carrying capacity for imported and exported goods and provided better storage and warehousing facilities and office space for locators and enterprises.The additional six new warehouses in Port Irene is intended to fill the demand of space by port users importing construction materials, supplies, and cargo.

Also in the work is the retrofitting and rehabilitation of Port Irene in Casambalangan village to restore and enhance the port.The recently completed project of the agency is the Port Irene Archway, which replaced the old steel archway severely damaged by Typhoon Ompong.

Moreover, the construction of an additional road and bridge connected to the existing Pier Structure is now completed as it will serve as the exit way for cargo trucks and other long and articulated vehicles. (January 31, 2022)
