SANTA ANA, Cagayan: The Department of Agriculture (DA) in Region 2 said it is bullish on collaborating with the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA) here and other partners on industrialization, trade and other economic-related activities in Cagayan Valley.

With this, Narciso Edillo, DA Region 2 executive director, presented via virtual conference on Thursday the OneDA Reform Agenda in Transforming Philippine Agriculture with four main strategies such as consolidation, moderniza-tion, industrialization and professionalization.

The virtual conference was also participated by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, PhilExport, provincial government of Cagayan and concerned senior staff of the DA Region 2.

"To attain scale under industrialization, the need for the establishment of agri-industrial corridors, pursue global trade, export development and promotion, food safety measures and mobilization and empowerment of partners are of utmost importance," Edillo said.

He said the Cagayan Valley, which comprises the provinces of Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino and the island province of Batanes has commodities that have export potential.

"Through our collective effort, we hope some of the commodities which include corn, banana, pineapple, beef and mango will find their way to other countries," Edillo said.

Leonardo Cruz, CEZA technical assistant and department manager for marketing and investment office, said they fully support the OneDA agenda particularly on industrialization.mic recovery | July 19, 20211:02/4:38

Representing CEZA Administrator and Chief Executive Officer Secretary Raul Lambino, Cruz said they are ready and willing to forge a pact through a memorandum of agreement with the DA to implement activities related to this strategy.

He said CEZA is now expanding its services to cater to a wider clientele locally and internationally.

"To complement all the initiatives of the DA on export and trading, we are venturing into cargo hauling, warehous-ing, storage, trading and promotion of our products," Cruz said.
