TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Feb. 27 (PIA) - - The Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA) has laid its 5-year development plan to the Regional Development Council (RDC) which is expected to propel Cagayan Valley’s economy.

Atty. Raul Lambino, administrator and chief executive officer of CEZA,  said the seaports in its area of jurisdiction will be rehabilitated to meet international standards, especially the port Irene in Sta Ana town which is envisioned to become a premier international seaport in Northern Philippines, capable of accommodating panamax and cape-seized vessels catering to the Asia region markets.

Other than this, Lambino also shared that a commercial center and Polaris city will be established at the eco-zone to include the construction of a sanitary landfill.

“We at CEZA have drawn up bucket list of projects and programs that, if realized, could impact on our dreams for Sta Ana, for the province of Cagayan and the bigger region,” Lambino said.

He also said that Sta Ana town has a lot of potentials for tourism development but the sites need further development and detailed tourism master plan to ensure its protection from destruction.

Lambino added that the Lal-lo International Airport will soon operate in its daily commercial international flights.

He said the Palaui Island was recently among the best 100 beaches by CNN blog and known internationally when it was chosen as one of the sites of the America’s famous “Survivor” television program.

On the pipeline, Lambino said there will be more commercial establishments, floating villas and a golf course to be established in the eco-zone. (ALM/OTB/PIA-2 Cagayan)
