President Rodrigo Roa Duterte appointed Atty. Raul Lambino as the new Presidential Adviser for Northern Luzon and transferred Jose Gabriel La Viña of Department of Tourism (DOT) to the Department of Agriculture (DOA) on Wednesday, June 6.
Atty. Lambino was the former administrator of the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA) and was appointed in the said post in July 2017. He is known as the lawyer of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. Lambino rose to fame when he led the signature campaign to amend or revise the 1987 Philippine Constitution. Lambino, however, is set to receive P1 as annual compensation in his role as the presidential adviser as per written in the appointment papers.
On the other hand, La Viña was the former Undersecretary of DOT for just two months. He was first appointed as the commissioner of Social Security System (SSS) yet President Duterte did not renew his term in the state pension fund in February over corruption allegations. Usec. La Viña was also known as Duterte’s social media campaign strategist during the 2016 presidential election.
In addition, the Chief Executive also appointed International Rice Research Institute Deputy Director General Bruce Tolentino as a member of the Monetary Board, succeeding the late Valentin Araneta who passed away last February 21. He also named Hellen Barber Dela Vega as the country’s Ambassador to Australia while Carlos Chan and Wallie Dee are appointed as Special envoys to China.
Duterte also assigned Nepomuceno Malaluan as the new Undersecretary of the Department of Education (DepEd).
